Mirka arrives unexpectedly into Kalsan and Elena's lives, turning it upside down. He is only a ten-year-old boy looking for his mother, but he carries a secret that causes Elena adolescent nightmares to come back and haunt her. The story is set in a mountain village where violence lies below the surface of every word and action as a reminder of a bloody ethnic war that devasted the country years before. During an eclipse of the sun, thought of as a bad omen, the past which seemed buried, is resurrected with its burden of suffering and hatred. When Elena realises that Mirka is her son, her fellow villagers take action, venting all their hatred and fear onto Elena in a frenzy of ethnic intolerance. The hunt of Mirka is on... |
