In 1985, at the age of 26, Giancarlo Siani was killed by the Camorra (the Neapolitan Mafia). He was a reporter who loved both his life and his work, but had the defect of digging up hard facts and investigating them. The film recounts his last four months, when he travelled daily from the genteel Vomero neighbourhood where he lived, to the hellish realm of mafia boss Valentino Gionta. At the time, criminal interests were focused on profiting from post-earthquake construction, and Giancarlo saw this and understood. |
