A young man wakes up in the morning, opens his refrigerator, takes out a plastic bottle of orange juice, drinks from it, and spits all the juice out. That's how the whole story begins...


 
 
Maha Assal

Born in 1969 in Nazareth where she lives. Master's degrees in Arabic and English Litterature in the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Worked as a script writer on different short (The Other Woman, The Date, 2003; Bread and Coffee, 2004) and feature films (Existence, 2007), as a set decorator on The Time that Remains by Elia Suleiman, 2009. Taught several courses in linguistics in Haifa University, as well as English in high schools in Nazareth and Haifa. Oranges is her first short film as a director.
