Sur une petite île croate dans l'Adriatique, de nos jours. Après les funérailles d'un vieux partisan une rumeur se répand que les présents ont vu le fantôme du maréchal Tito. La nouvelle attire sur l'île beaucoup de gens : des partisans et communistes, des curieux, des hippies, des agents secrets et un policier envoyé de la capitale pour mener une enquête. Le fantôme donne aux vieux partisans le courage de sortir leur drapeaux rouges et de proclamer le retour du communisme, tandis que les nouveaux riches dont le maire, organisent un tourisme « politique » en offrant comme attraction des parades du 1er mai quotidiennes et des courses à l'estafette… In a small island off the Croatian coast, the island's mayor, Luka, is always on the lookout for ways to make money. He owns the only bar and the only hotel. The elderly men who fought as partisans during World War II and who have been diehard Communists ever since, are on defensive. But things start to change when the ghost of Marshal Tito appears at the funeral of one of the partisans. Soon the island is invaded by partisans and Communists, sightseers and hippies, secret agents and a policemen sent by the capital to investigate. The ghost gives the old partisans courage to bring out their red flags and proclaim the return of Communism whilst the nouveaux riches community on the island, headed by the mayor himself, organise a sort of "political" tourism offering attractions such as May Day parades... |
