For the filming of Daoud Aoulad-Syad's last movie Waiting for Pasolini, sets were built on land leased from local villagers. Among the sets, a mosque was built on the land of Moha, a villager who also appears in the movie. At the end of filming, the film crew leaves the village. Villagers demolish all the sets, with the exception of the mosque, which becomes a real place of prayer for the whole village. For Moha this is a real disaster. |

Daoud Aoulad-Syad
Born in Marrakech in 1953. He studied in France, where he obtained his Doctors in Physics in 1981. As a photographer, he has several exhibitions to his name (United States, 1986 and 1987; Morocco 1988; France and Belgium, FNAC 1989; Institut du monde arabe, Paris 1990 ; ARPA, Bordeaux 1991). He goes into film-making in 1989 with K. ricature and Paris 13/7/89, directed within the framework of a FEMIS cinema workshop. After the documentary Mémoire ocre (1991) and the short film Entre l’absence et l’oubli (1993), he makes his first fiction film, Adieu forain, presented in competition for the 1998 Mediteranean Film Festival. The following year, he obtained the development grant for a film project named Le Cheval de vent. Waiting for Pasolini (2007) is selected in Montpellier in 2008. The Mosque is his latest long feature.
