Walid Mattar
Born in Tunis in 1980. He wrote a thesis on knowledge management in Paris in parallel with cinema studies. A member of the Fédération tunisienne des cinéastes amateurs since he was 13, he was director of photography for several short films and directed 'Le Cuirassé Abdelkarim' in 2003. In 2006, he co-directed the short film 'Sbeh El Khir' with Leyla Bouzid within the framework of the project '10 Courts, 10 regards' involving young Tunisian filmmakers. 'Condamnations…' , his fourth short, was selected and awarded in Montpellier in 2010. It was followed by 'L'Offrande', written jointly with Leyla Bouzid (2011), and 'Baba Noël' in 2012, also selected in Montpellier this year. 'Vent du Nord' is his first feature.
