In a country town, Emil becomes unemployed when the factory where he worked as a turner is closed down. He is married to Ana. They have a son, Dorin. After his wife loses her job too, the two decide to emigrate to Australia. Emil sells the apartment and the car bought at their wedding and moves with his family at his parents-in-law who live in the suburbs. Emil goes to Bucharest to exchange Romanian “lei” into dollars.
