| Après avoir travaillé dans l'aéronautique aux Pays-Bas, il fonde Ayoul Film Productions en 1990 et produit plusieurs documentaires sur l'immigration pour la BBC ou Channel 4. En 1992, il passe à la réalisation avec deux courts métrages : Paper House et The 13th. En 1998, son premier long métrage, The Fourteen Chick, fait l'ouverture du Netherlands Film Festival. Après le documentaire Nazareth 2000, il développe avec Augustus Film, les scénarii de In Between Two Days et Le Mariage de Rana (2001) primé à Montpellier en 2002.
