| Né en 1958, dans les Aurès. Sa famille s’installe à Besançon. Après des études scientifiques, il se découvre une passion pour le cinéma et l’écriture. Il réalise un court métrage Apprends-moi à compter jusqu’à l’infini (1990) puis un long métrage Sale temps pour un voyou (1992). En 2002, après un retour douloureux en Algérie, il découvre les Aurès. Inspiré par ce voyage, il écrit le scénario de La Maison jaune. Actuellement il prépare un long-métrage Quelques jours de répit. Egalement écrivain, en 2001 il a signé La Cité des fausses notes, prix du livre Marcel Aymé. | Born in 1958, in the Aurès. When he was six months old, the family left its home village to move to Besançon in France. After studying sciences, he discovered a passion for film and writing. He made a short film Apprends-moi à compter jusqu’à l’infini (1990) followed by a feature Sale temps pour un voyou (1992). In 2002, after a painful return to Algeria for his father’s funeral, he discovered the Aurès. Inspired by this journey, he wrote the script for La Maison jaune which was shot in the Berber language in the Aurès region. He is currently preparing a new feature, Quelques jours de répit which he plans to make in Franche Comté and this time in French. He is also a literary writer: in 2001 his book La cité des fausses notes won the Marcel Aymé Prize. |
