| Mounir Fatmi est né en 1970 à Tanger (Maroc) et vit en France. Formé aux Beaux-Arts de Rome (études de peinture), puis à Casablanca. Il poursuit depuis 1989 sa démarche artistique, en travaillant avec le support vidéo à travers des installations, des vidéos-installations, des performances ou des video-art et découvre en 1991 le monde de l’infographie et réalise sa première vidéo infographique. Il a participé depuis 1993 à de nombreux festivals de vidéo en France mais aussi en Allemagne, Colombie, Croatie, Belgique, Italie, au Maroc, Japon, Canada, Etats Unis. Ses vidéos art ont été diffusées dans les musées, écoles d’art, festivals, universités. | Born in Tangier (Marocco) in 1970, Mounir Fatmi lives and works in France. Trained at the Rome Academy of Fine Arts and then at the Casablanca Art School. He has made paintings, sculptures, photos, art videos and installations since 1989. In 1991, he discovered the world of computer graphics and directs his first video in that field. Since 1993, he has been in many video festivals in France, but also in Germany, Columbia, Croatia, Belgium, Italy, Marocco, Japan, Canada and the U.S. His art videos have been shown in museums, art schools, festivals and universities. |
