| Assad Fouladkar est né à Beyrouth. Il étudie le théâtre au Liban puis obtient une maîtrise cinématographique à l'université de Boston. Durant son séjour aux Etats-Unis il travaille comme producteur indépendant pour une chaîne télévisée cablée, produisant des programmes de faits divers. Il écrit et réalise également des courts métrages et des documentaires, Round Trip Ticket, Dave Powers Remembers, The Stream, Have Fun Tom, et Kyrie Eleison qui reçut une nomination aux Oscars pour le meilleur film d'étudiant en 1990 et obtint quatre prix à travers les Etats-Unis et le prix du public au festival de Montpellier en 1990. En 1991, il part en Australie où il reçoit une aide du Film Victoria Fund pour écrire son long métrage The Cedar Tree qui obtient le prix du meilleur scénario non réalisé au Festival du Film de Beyrouth en 1997. Il réalise Quand maryam s'est dévoilée en 2001. | Assad Fouladkar was born in Beirut. He studied Theater at the Lebanese University and completed a Master's Degree in Film from Boston University. During his time in Boston he worked as a freelance producer in a cable TV station producing current affairs programs. He also wrote and directed several short dramas and documentaries, Round Trip Ticket, Dave Powers Remembers, The Stream, Have Fun Tom, and Kyrie Eleison. This film received an Oscar nomination for Best Student Film in 1990 and went on to win five other awards across the United States and then the Prix du Public at the Montpellier Film Festival in France in 1990. In 1991, he went to live in Australia where he received a script funding from Film Victoria to write his feature film The Cedar Tree which received the Best non-produced scrip award at the Beirut Film Festival in 1997. He directed When Maryam spoke out in 2001. |
