| Née en 1966 au Liban, elle obtient en France un diplôme d'orthoptie et un DEA de sociolinguistique avant de travailler dans le cinéma. Elle occupe plusieurs postes sur des films d'auteurs parmi lesquels Bruno Dumont, Ziad Doueiri, Eyal Sivan et Philippe Ramos, tout en écrivant et tournant ses propres films : Crème et crémaillère (1999), Carla (2001), Hier encore (2005), Venise n'est pas Mexico (2009), L'Angleterre contre l'Argentine (2010), Rien ne s'oppose à la nuit (2011) et plusieurs commandes pour la télévision ainsi que des portraits d'artistes contemporains. La majorité de ses films ont été diffusés à la télévision et ont reçu des prix dans les festivals. | Born in Tripoli (in the north of the Lebanon) in 1966, she left for university in France in 1984 to study Socio-Linguistics and Arabic Philology. Since 1995 she has worked as continuity-girl on two short films, translated several Arabic films, and worked as production assistant and post-production assistant. In 1998 she had a traineeship as assistant director on Bruno Dumont's film L'Humanité. She wrote the screenplay for Crème et Crémaillère that same year and directed the film in Tripoli in 1999. She is in the process of working on her second short film, Refrain for which she also wrote the screenplay. |
