| Né au Caire en avril 1977. Diplômé du High Institute of Cinema en 1999. Après Au bout du monde (1998), son court métrage de troisième année, et trois documentaires (Cairo, The World Seller et Abou El Reesh), il réalise Le Sheikh Sheikha (1999) et Lilly (2001) tous deux sélectionnés au festival de Montpellier. En 2006, il réalise son premier long métrage L'Immeuble Yacoubian adapté du best-seller éponyme d'Alaa El Aswany et sorti sur les écrans français en août 2006. | Born in Cairo in April 1977. Graduated from the High Institute of Cinema in 1999. After Au bout du monde (1998), his third-year short film, and three documentaries (Cairo, The World Seller and Abou El Reesh), he made Le Sheikh Sheikha (1999) and Lilly (2001), both selected at the Montpellier Festival. He made his first full-length feature film, L'Immeuble Yacoubian, adapted from the bestseller of the same name by Alaa El Aswany, in 2006. It was released in France in August 2006. |
