| Diplômé en commerce de l'université Bogaziçi, faculté de sciences économiques et d'administration. Il commence à travailler dans le cinéma en 1991 avec un film vidéo expérimental, Hang the Camera. L'année suivante il réalise un documentaire pour la télévision, Rock Around the Mosque. Il travaille comme producteur et réalisateur pour la télévision entre 1992 et 1995. Il est l'auteur du scénario de son premier long métrage de fiction, Soubresaut dans un cercueil. Ses films : Rock Around the Mosque (TV, 1992), Soubresaut dans un cercueil (1996), Les Éléphants et la pelouse (2000), Mud (2003), Dot (2008) présenté en compétition à Montpellier en 2008. | Zaïm Dervis graduated from the Management Department of the Bogazici University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences in 1988. He started to work on film by shooting the experimental video Hang the Camera in 1991. The next year he made the TV documentary Rock Around the Mosque. He wrote the screenplay of his first feature, Somersault in a Coffin. This film was awarded with four Golden Oranges for Best Film, Best Screenplay, Best Actor and Best Editing in the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival in 1996. Elephants and grass (2000) is the second feature he wrote and directed. Mud (2003), Dot (2008). |
