| Né à Santa Coloma de Farnés (Girone, Espagne) en 1935. Après une licence en droit, il intègre l'Instituto de Investigaciones y Experiencias Cinematográficas. Tandis qu'il publie des articles dans les revues Acento Cultural, Cinema Universitario, Nuestro cine, etc, il travaille comme assistant réalisateur, script, directeur de production et acteur. Avec le producteur et réalisateur Jacinto Esteva, il est l'un des créateurs du mouvement rénovateur appelé Ecole de Barcelone. Il co-dirige avec lui, le film manifeste de ce mouvement Dante no es unicamente severo en 1967. 29 ans plus tard il réalise Un corps dans les bois (1996).
