| Né à Livourne en 1964. Diplômé du Centre expérimental du cinéma de Rome où il a suivi l'enseignement de Furio Scarpelli, il se dirige vers une activité de scénariste pour la télévision et le cinéma. Il est l'auteur, entre autre, de Turné, de Gabriele Salvatores et de Centro storico de Roberto Giannarelli. En 1994, il signe son premier film de long métrage en tant que réalisateur avec La bella vita, primé au festival de Venise. Après Vacances d'août (1995), son second long métrage, il tourne en 1997 Ovosodo qui obtient la même année, le Grand prix spécial du jury au Festival de Venise. Puis il réalise Baci e abbracci (1998), Caterina va en ville (2004), N-Napoléon (2006), Tutta la vita davanti (2008). La prima cosa bella (2010) est présenté en compétition au festival de Montpellier. Tutti i santi giorni est son nouveau film. | Paolo Virzì was born in Livorno in 1964. After his diploma from the Centro Sperimentale in Rome where he followed the classes of Furio Scarpelli, he turns to scriptwriting for television and cinema. Among other scripts, he wrote Turné by Gabriele Salvatores and Centro storico by Roberto Giannarelli. In 1994, he directed his first feature film La bella vita, rewarded in the Venice Film festival. After shooting Ferie d'agosto (1995), his second feature, he directed Ovosodo awarded that same year with the special jury prize in Venice. Then come Baci e abbracci (1998), Caterina va in citta (2004), N-Napoléon (2006), Tutta la vita davanti (2008) and La prima cosa bella (2010). |
