Né en 1950 à Rebahia (Algérie). Après des études à l'IDHEC de 1972 à 1975, il travaille comme opérateur de prise de vues à Antenne 2 et TF1 de 1976 à 1980, puis comme assistant réalisateur de 1981 à 1984. Il tourne deux courts métrages (La Cellule, 1975 ; La Cible, 1978) puis passe au long métrage en 1984 avec Le Thé à la menthe. Il réalise ensuite Un vampire au paradis (1991), Les Sœurs Hamlet (1996), La Nuit du destin (1997) et Le Soleil assassiné (2003). Il a également été coscénariste de Cheb (1991) de Rachid Bouchareb. |
Born in Rebahia (Algeria) in 1950. After studying at IDHEC from 1972 to 1975, he worked as a lighting cameraman at Antenne 2 and TF1 from 1976 to 1980, and then as assistant director from 1981 to 1984. He made two short films (La Cellule, 1975; La Cible, 1978) and then moved to full-length features in 1984 with Le Thé à la menthe. He then directed Un vampire au paradis (1991), Les Sœurs Hamlet (1996), La Nuit du destin (1997) and Le Soleil assassiné (2003). He was also co-scriptwriter of Rachid Bouchareb's Cheb (1991). |
